Through many batches of trial and error, I have perfected the recipe for the best jalapeno margarita and wanted to share it with all of you! I learned the secret to crafting the perfect margarita when traveling to the motherland of margaritas – Mexico. Read on to find out how to make a perfectly spiced, not too sweet, not too tart jalapeno margarita.
The Secret Ingredient
When I was in San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico, I took a sip of my friend’s jalapeno margarita and it blew me away! The funny thing is that I don’t really like margaritas or jalapeno. While ordering a few jalapeno margaritas of my own that week, I was chatting with the bartender and asked him for his recipe. He told me the secret ingredient is fresh jalapeno infused tequila. You might be thinking that sounds too difficult, I promise it isn’t! Simply slice 4 jalapenos (including the seeds) and pop them in your tequila of choice. (I do recommend using a silver tequila.) The trick is to not leave your jalapenos in the tequila for too long – 2 hours is the magic number.
Another Trick for the Perfect Marg
My other tip is to use fresh squeezed lime juice. Yes, this is a little high maintenance, but trust me, it makes all the difference! I typically squeeze 10 limes for one pitcher of margaritas. You can use a hand press, or my favorite, the electric juicer. This is my favorite because every time I get it out my kids fight over juicing the fruit.
The Best Jalapeño Margarita
Ingredients
- 5 Jalapenos
- 20 oz Tequila recommend silver
- 10 Limes
- 10 oz Triple Sec
- 5 tbsp Agave Syrup
- ice cubes
- Kosher Salt
Instructions
- Slice your jalapenos and add to the tequila bottle. Let infuse for 2 hours.
- Squeeze 10 limes.
- Add all ingredients to the pitcher. Enjoy!
