Raise your hand if you spend pretty much every weekend on a field, in a gym, or hours in the car traveling from one kid sport to the next! #sportsmom #mykidsbiggestfan. Read on for tips and outfit inspiration so you can still look cute while being your kid’s biggest cheerleader!
Look Fashionable on the Sidelines
I don’t know about you, but our Saturdays (and sometimes Sundays) are typically spent at some type of children’s sporting event. These events can end up being long days and sometimes we will end up at a restaurant with the team afterward. I struggle with deciding what to wear – I want to be comfortable, but I still want to look cute, especially if we end up going out to eat after the event. These outfits also need to be easy as many Saturdays come with an early start time. I love watching my kids play their various sports (lacrosse, volleyball, and tennis, at the moment), but the early weekends definitely aren’t my favorite! I always set my outfit out the night before and have developed a little formula to nail the cute, comfy, and “not trying too hard” look I’m trying to achieve. We may be “Soccer Moms”, but that doesn’t mean we can’t look good!
A Sports Mom Fashion Formula
The key ingredient to my formula is leggings! But, not just any leggings! I look for leggings that have a little something extra like cool seams or different colors. My favorites this winter were a pair from Nordstrom Zella brand (sold-out) and leggings from LuluLemon. Now that spring is finally arriving in Michigan, I will be on the look-out for capris. I will keep you posted!
The next step is finding a cute top. I’m always cold, especially in a big drafty gym, so many times I will layer a tank or a vest with my outfits to stay warm. The Gibson brand at Nordstrom always has cozy and cute options. This Free People top is another great option because it is so versatile. The pretty blue color is great for Spring and it would also look cute with white jeans or jean shorts.

If our tournaments are scheduled for the afternoon, I find it easier to branch out of my leggings formula. But, staying comfortable is still a must!
