What is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?
We know it’s hard to think about fall fashion and winter coats in the middle of July, but the Nordstrom Anniversary sale makes it hard not to! Many of you probably have the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale on your radar, but if this is new to you, let me fill you in. In a nutshell, Nordstrom offers new fall and winter styles at a significant discount and includes brands rarely found on sale like North Face, Patagonia, Sorel, Tory Burch, Paige Denim, Nike, and tons more. This is the best sale of the year and includes women’s, men’s, and children’s fashion, shoes, accessories/handbags, beauty, and home. Prices go up on August 4.
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Details
If you’ve shopped the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale before, you understand all the fuss! If you haven’t, you will not be disappointed. The sale is a great time to stock-up on basics you will need throughout the winter, back to school clothes for the kids, and splurge on a few items because the deals are that good! Items sell out quickly, but Nordstrom does re-stock throughout the 3 week sale.
Nordstrom Madness
Every year people go crazy for the #nsale. The site usually crashes, but Nordstrom, as always, has excellent customer service and will offer something for the inconvenience. When things sell out and come back in stock, they don’t last long. (We will do our best to alert you when favorites are re-stocked!) If you’re thinking about something, just order it! You can always return it with Nordstrom’s amazing free 365 day return policy.
We’ve shopped this sale for years and honestly, it’s worth spending some time checking it out. Some of our favorite investment pieces, as well as trendy items, have come from the anniversary sale.

Nordstrom rewards cardholders with early access to the sale so there are a few different dates to keep in mind.

August 4: Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Ends and Prices Go Up
How will The Barely B’s follow the sale?
We were lucky enough to shop in store on Wednesday and we were able to start on-line shopping Thursday. We will show you our favorites we found in-store and will hunt on-line for all the goodies that were not in store. The #nsale can be overwhelming so we will try and breakdown favorites in every category like women’s clothing, men’s clothing, kid clothing, shoes, beauty, accessories, etc. We will keep our website and social media channels updated with new finds and re-stocked items.
We were definitely impressed with the selection of items and brands included in this year’s sale! If you have any questions on sizing or anything, don’t hesitate to message us on fb or insta (@thebarelybs)! We tried to put down what sizes we are. For reference, Jen is 5’8 and 125ish (on a good day😂) and Amy is 5’4 and 115. Without further ado, let’s start with some of our favorite finds!
Dressing Room Selfies
Because this is our first time covering the sale, we were a bit overwhelmed with where to start. There are seriously so.many.good. items on sale! We decided we would start with what made it home with us on our shopping trip. There is a lot on-line that wasn’t available in store so we will continue to update you with our on-line shopping sprees. (Sorry, hubbies, it’s for the blog😂). We also plan to do some “favorite” round-ups for work-wear, jeans, shoes, everyday mom style, children’s clothing, beauty, and home decor, so be sure to follow along!
PATAGONIA FLEECE | ALO LEGGINGS|ZELLA JACKET
DRESSING ROOM NOTES: The Patagonia Fleece is sure to sell out. I didn’t love this color (it’s not as bad as the picture is making it look), but it is available in multiple colors on-line. I think the gray will sell out first. The Zella cozy coat came home with me and I’ve already worn it. I’m in the XS so it ran true to size. Yes, I know its 90 degrees but the air conditioning was cold! The Alo leggings are awesome and are sure to sell out quickly because they never go on sale! I’m wearing an XS in the coat and a S in the leggings. I would recommend sizing up in the leggings.
DRESSING ROOM NOTES: Loved this top and so many ways to style it! Great top to wear from work to play! The Paige jeans are a nice dark color with a good stretch and holds it’s shape. Fits true to size (wearing a 26) and they are a perfect length for me, but Amy needed to take advantage of the free alterations. #shortgirlproblems.
DRESSING ROOM NOTES: This top has a flattering fit and the ombre blue makes it look unique. It’s lightweight and will be great for fall or layering under a cardigan or vest in the winter. I thought it ran a tad small so size up for a less bodycon fit. I was really excited to see the Paige Verdugo jeans in the sale, they are my favorite. The stretch and color are good on these.
DRESSING ROOM NOTES: This Zella turtleneck sweater is soooo soft and long enough to wear with leggings or jeans. This might be my winter uniform. Size down, I’m wearing an xsmall.
DRESSING ROOM NOTES: This outfit is so good! The jeans are Wit & Wisdom and fit like a glove. They are designed to with an ab control waistband that we like to call the “muffin top buster”. The side zip pockets add a cute detail and the snakeskin print is so on trend! I would size down in this brand and if you are taller like Jen, they will be more of a crop or ankle style in length. They are available in regular and petite sizes. The black top is a great staple. The fit was nice, we both loved the 3/4 length sleeves, and it has a cool scooped back. We only had one back in the dressing room and we both found ourselves reaching for it for many of the outfits. It’s good alone or layered under a dress or cardigan.
DRESSING ROOM TIPS: This cardigan made my top 5 list! I have been looking for one that was a more slimming fit and not bulky and this fits the bill. It is lightweight and I can’t wait to style it for work and play. I would size down one or even two sizes. I’m wearing an XXSmall.
LEATHER JACKET | LEOPARD TANK | JEANS|TIE-WAIST TANK
DRESSING ROOM TIPS: This leather jacket is a classic and feels like butter. It’s a bit of a splurge, but for a real leather jacket, it’s a great deal. Looks much better in person than it does on the website and fits true to size. The leopard tank is a great layering piece under the jacket or a blazer, or even a jean coat. The tie-waist tank is super cute, but ran small so size up. It’s another great piece that will take you from work to weekend.
DRESSING ROOM TIPS:
This black dress is a great fit and the rouching around the midsection is a nice feature. The fabric is polyester blend so it is thicker and hold sits shape, it will be great for work! The long sleeves and turtleneck adds a touch of class to this little black dress. This will be my winter version of my favorite summer little black dress. It was a tossup between the small and Xsmall, but I decided on the Xsmall for a tighter sleeve. The belt was an added detail to keep up to date with the animal print trend. LOVE IT!
DRESSING ROOM TIPS: This Caslon sweater comes in a ton of colors and will be a popular item, for sure. It isn’t itchy at all and is a winter staple. The Paige Verdugo jeans are my favorite so I was super happy to see them in the sale! Great jean selection this year!
DRESSING ROOM TIPS: The Madewell tank isn’t in the sale, but it’s an everyday deal and must-have basic. We both have it in black and white. The jean skirt…to buy or not to buy…are we too old for a jean skirt? This was the conversation we had in the dressing room and the answer is NO, we are not too old, and YES, buy it! We finally found the perfectly distressed, “mom appropriate” length jean skirt! It’s a great item to round out Summer and easy to transition into fall with a pair of cute booties.
High Sell Out Risk
Not a dressing room selfie, but we found these on-line yesterday and they were already selling out. They look amazing.

How to Support the Barely B’s
#no pun intended
Many of our friends have asked how we can receive credit for items purchased. By using the links on our social media accounts and website, we may receive a small commission for items purchased. It is similar to a commission paid to a salesperson working in the store. If you purchase using an app or click on another blogger’s link, that will negate the commission we would possibly receive. Whether you purchase through us or not, we are just happy you’re here and we hope we have inspired some of your #nsale shopping!
Thank you for your support!
